Emergencies related to himself are rarer these days than they were in the past. Things had gone rather wrong a few times immediately after the whole upheaval of curse, but nothing that he had needed much help with. There was always a Cait Sith to get him assistance, there was always friends he could call on for assistance.
Today was different. Today things were more serious than he had experienced in a very, very long time. Worse, what had happened had been timed for a moment when Reeve was vulnerable, and was targeted to take the Cait Sith network down. Which meant Reeve was lost without help, without hope.
Except for one thing.
He had dinner planned with Bucky that night. It was one bit of oversight by his captors. They'd just seen the text checking to make sure Reeve wasn't going to be late from someone whose account was labeled only as 'Barnes' and decided to respond with a text.
An abrupt cancellation, with language that was not appropriate given Reeve would have begged an apology and tried to reschedule for the next night. And they just assumed that their systems hiding where Reeve's online phone was would be enough to hide them.
And now here was Reeve, captive and tied up in a warehouse, alone, worrying about how he was going to get out. If only he knew what a mistake had been made, what hope that might bring.
