There were few things more foolish than one thinking they were strong enough to face a great lord of darkness in his own domain. Sending in only two people to stage this great strike was just laughable. Subduing them had been far too easy. Jasper had not even had to step in himself to see that it would be done.

He was glad he had left the dungeons intact. The former Luminary was still bound in one now. But the great guardian knight of Cobblestone? Well, there he was, sitting on the throne while there was Hendrik, chained before him. The man needed to wake up. How could he ever begin to gloat if the guy does not wake up?

Blue eyes blinked around once he was dragged into the room. And that was when he was really confused. He knew this room even if he had really only been allowed a peek in. His majesty's private chambers.

This was the one room he hadn't been able to get to that night that Jasper had wanted him to, and had to polish all of the armor in the castle due to being caught sneaking out of his bedchamber at wanting to see the Shield of Heliodor.

"Why here?"

"A ruler should have a place suited to their status," Jasper said with a smile. Of course he was here. He pulls Hendrik through the door and drops the chain. The magic would keep the man inside.

"Better suited if it were his and not someone else's." Hendrik replied stubbornly before he was brought into the room.

The chain was dropped and he blinked at Jasper.

"What other ill tidings do you bear?"

Jasper doesn't even acknowledge the sharp comment.

"None. This space is yours to enjoy. There will be those that will bring food or anything else that you might desire."

"Enjoy." Hendrik echoed. But he did listen to the rest of what was said.

"And you? Do you intend to sit by and idly see what I am doing?"

What was the other knight's angle in all of this?

"For now," he says with a soft smile. "You no doubt require time to adjust to your new status. I will attempt to respect this."

Attempt being a real comment there.

"In your world, the only status I would have is that of a slave."


OF that Hendrik was certain.

"You are not a slave," Jasper dismisses. "But it will take time for you to realize you should stand as my partner in all manners."

And it was frustrating that it would take time.

The tall knight felt as if he'd been reprimanded.

"Partner? Do you mean that it is your intention to pursue a marriage?"

He's so lost.

Marriage? Were they truly expecting something so plebeian as that?

"I mean you will stand at my side, as you ever ever meant. AS you swore."

Hendrik didn't reply right away and lowered his head. He might be 'stone headed' or 'simple minded' but with Jasper there were always things in what wasn't being said.

"So you decide now to stand by your oath."

[envious_shadow]

"I have ALWAYS stood by my oath!" he roars in anger, and a nearby stood bursts into flames over his fury. "You betrayed it! Betrayed me!"

Hendrik scowled at the outburst. "And just how have you come to believe that I betrayed you?"

"One only needs to observe to see just how you did," Jasper says with a roll of his eyes. Why does this man not admit to what he has done?

[unswervingcompanion]

The taller knight dismissed everything he heard and turned away. He couldn't see how he betrayed Jasper. He was the one who reminded the blonde knight about his oath and their boyhood pact. And now here he was, off on the wrong side, for all of his brilliance.

Hendrik sighed. He too had been on the wrong side, unable to see clearly until recently.

"I shall give you time then," Jasper says with a sigh before turning away. "There are other things that need done."

[unswervingcompanion]

A tired tone came from the taller knight. "Indeed, more time for you to plot your schemes and usurp the throne."

Hendrik raised his arms and looked at his bonds. This was just like Jasper.

Oh Hendrick, do you not understand? There is no need to usurp the throne. It is already his. He sighs and shakes his head.

"In time you will understand. This was always meant to be ours. Just do not take too long to realize this."

Hendrik took a steadying breath and scowled at his chains as Jasper spoke. Then he shook his head. "I am quite certain that you mean that it is yours."

[envious_shadow]

No. No it is not like that. Jasper turns back around, looking furious.

"Why must you fight me on this?"

[unswervingcompanion]

"There is no other reason for me to be in chains." Hendrik replied. He never did like when Jasper at him. He'd far rather they be on the same side as they were the night Dundrasil was attacked. Or even as they had been mistakenly united when the Luminary came to Heliodor.

"You are in chains for your own safety. And for my own," he notes. Because he does not trust Hendrick to care for him the way he should just yet. So he does care about this, quite a bit. The care he is taken should not be underestimated.

[unswervingcompanion]

"My own safety as well as your own? That is impossible." Hendrik replied with a disbelieving scoff in his tone. His head turned away and he looked down at his chains.

So this was truly the way of it. As if he was clad so due to all of his 'wrongdoings.'

"Without them, can you honestly say you would not seek to harm me?" Jasper asks. "That you would not seek to leave?"

These were clearly wrongdoings against Jasper, and would get him hurt.

Hendrik was surprised to hear those questions, but he had to be honest. "I have no wish to harm you. But I gave my oath to the Luminary to help him save the world. And I cannot do that clad in chains. You can have whatever it is that you wish, whether it be this castle or to be its ruler, it matters not. The world and being saved is far more important."

Castles could be rebuilt in his mind.
