There were few things more foolish than one thinking they were strong enough to face a great lord of darkness in his own domain. Sending in only two people to stage this great strike was just laughable. Subduing them had been far too easy. Jasper had not even had to step in himself to see that it would be done.

He was glad he had left the dungeons intact. The former Luminary was still bound in one now. But the great guardian knight of Cobblestone? Well, there he was, sitting on the throne while there was Hendrik, chained before him. The man needed to wake up. How could he ever begin to gloat if the guy does not wake up?

The taller knight dismissed everything he heard and turned away. He couldn't see how he betrayed Jasper. He was the one who reminded the blonde knight about his oath and their boyhood pact. And now here he was, off on the wrong side, for all of his brilliance.

Hendrik sighed. He too had been on the wrong side, unable to see clearly until recently.

"I shall give you time then," Jasper says with a sigh before turning away. "There are other things that need done."

A tired tone came from the taller knight. "Indeed, more time for you to plot your schemes and usurp the throne."

Hendrik raised his arms and looked at his bonds. This was just like Jasper.

Oh Hendrick, do you not understand? There is no need to usurp the throne. It is already his. He sighs and shakes his head.

"In time you will understand. This was always meant to be ours. Just do not take too long to realize this."

Hendrik took a steadying breath and scowled at his chains as Jasper spoke. Then he shook his head. "I am quite certain that you mean that it is yours."

No. No it is not like that. Jasper turns back around, looking furious.

"Why must you fight me on this?"

[unswervingcompanion]

"There is no other reason for me to be in chains." Hendrik replied. He never did like when Jasper at him. He'd far rather they be on the same side as they were the night Dundrasil was attacked. Or even as they had been mistakenly united when the Luminary came to Heliodor.

"You are in chains for your own safety. And for my own," he notes. Because he does not trust Hendrick to care for him the way he should just yet. So he does care about this, quite a bit. The care he is taken should not be underestimated.

"My own safety as well as your own? That is impossible." Hendrik replied with a disbelieving scoff in his tone. His head turned away and he looked down at his chains.

So this was truly the way of it. As if he was clad so due to all of his 'wrongdoings.'

"Without them, can you honestly say you would not seek to harm me?" Jasper asks. "That you would not seek to leave?"

These were clearly wrongdoings against Jasper, and would get him hurt.

Hendrik was surprised to hear those questions, but he had to be honest. "I have no wish to harm you. But I gave my oath to the Luminary to help him save the world. And I cannot do that clad in chains. You can have whatever it is that you wish, whether it be this castle or to be its ruler, it matters not. The world and being saved is far more important."

Castles could be rebuilt in his mind.

"False Luminary," Jasper dismisses. "There is no need to save it. It is already saved. In time you shall understand this."

And that is all Jasper can do for now. Know the man will come to understand.

"I once thought as you do." Hendrik offered softly. And he rattled his chains to remind himself that they were still on opposite ends.

"ANd yet you still follow a lie," Jasper hisses angrily, whirling to glare at Hendrik. "You have forsaken your oaths to me for a lying child."

[unswervingcompanion]

Hendrik shook his head. "When the world is saved, you will believe."

That last part got half a snarl out of the taller knight. "This matter concerns us all. Together we could save this world alongside the Luminary."

"The False Luminary is being dealt with," Jaspers dismisses.

[unswervingcompanion]

"So you're still blind." Hendrik replied, shaking his head.

With a huff of anger and annoyance Jasper storms out of the room, slamming the door behind him. He is not blind. It is Hendrik who is. Who has forgotten him and left him. And he will hear nothing else.

He heard the slamming of the door, but the tall knight lifted his chains and searched for weaknesses in the links. Jasper couldn't be reasoned with even with it sitting in front of his face.

And people called him stone headed.

There would of course be difficulty in finding weaknesses in said links. Clearly Jasper wasn't going to use something substandard for the man he cared so much for. What if he hurt himself after all?
