Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

Nick laughs a little.

"I don't feel like backing down, myself," he assures Billy, looking to him.

Teddy looks up, and Nick feels a soft warmth in his chest.

There's a nervous laugh at the magnetism comment, and Nick looks down at the cat for a moment, before flicking his eyes back up.

"I am. And glad to meet you," he says with such sincerity. "There are treats and toys over at the counter. Would you like me to get some for your friend?"

"Would you please? Maybe with a little nibble we can lure him out of my lap or something? So, well, that way I can get up and shake your hand or something?"

Or maybe even just order something to drink.

Billy laughs and he just gets them up as fast as he feels like he's in control. Damn, that's going to be a thing.

"You're just going to be amazing to hang out with, aren't you?"

Has he ever wanted something more? Something different. What a thing to consider.

"I do not think I have. It was never something which I had time to contemplate. What can be expected from a man like me? Elder child, but always the spare heir. I was meant for nothing but this."

"Never thought about going off and doing your own thing? I mean, I guess it would have been risky, but ...why weren't you the heir if you were the oldest?"

"To do such a thing would be to abandon my duties to my sister, to my people, and to my nation," he points out. And he was not raised to do that.

"Our royalty is... matrilineal."

Cor is apparently 'on loan' for this Gala tonight - not the first time, nor the last. But this time, the director of SOLDIER wanted to set him up with a +1 tonight. Half-hoping that it would be someone practical like Angeal, or quiet like Sephiroth, He waits near the entrance for his 'date to show up. Cor does look nice, all dressed up in his ceremonial uniform. He just wishes that he didn't need to keep a damn fancy dumbapple pin on his right breast - for some reason, Lazard insisted that it was the best way for his 'date' to recognize him...

There is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that there is no first class soldier that cleans up at all on the same level as Genesis. Yes, people might debate which Soldier is most attractive (usually Sephiroth), or most warm and welcoming (Angeal), but no one denied that Genesis had fashion, presence, and grace. So while he does show up in his own dress uniform, it has those little flairs that made an outfit into a statement.

ANd quite the statement it was. He was beautiful. Genesis Rhapsodos clearly knew he was beautiful. So he assumed that he would find himself, in this stupid ploy, on the arm of someone equally beautiful. So he sought the pin out.

What he wasn't expecting was the man he would find it upon.

"And you would be?"

[It would probably be worse of Xavier didn't know someone just like him. Wincing, though, he turns, half expecting to see Enid to spite the voice difference but his brow furrows instead.

He doesn't know this guy.]

You don't have to shout. I'm not deaf.

"I didn't realize that. I don't know every royal line from home, but the main one most people i'd know are familiar with didn't really think women could rule until they were left with no other option several hundred years back."

--Oh. Cor perks up as soon as he sees this red-clad SOLDIER approach him. And a rather handsome one at that. Wasn't it rumored that one of the top SOLDIERS was well-read and fond of theatre? Perhaps it's this one...

"Cor Leonis, Marshal of the Crownsguard of Lucis." He bows with practiced ease. "Pleasure to meet you. And...you are 1st SOLDIER Genesis, I assume?"

[silent_sacrifice]

Indeed, quite well-read. Even had papers published on his favorite play. And intelligent in other ways as well. But not important now so much as the man who was bowing before him. Older, yes, but high status. And beautiful.

"Well then, Marshal, the pleasure is indeed mine. You are correct in your conclusions. I am Genesis Rhapsodos, Soldier First Class. What brings me the honor of your company tonight, wearing my token?"

Really? That seems like an unwise thing.

So he was never meant to truly lead. Just to warm a seat.

"That makes sense if it's tied to magic. It doesn't work like that where I'm from, but every country has their own government. Most of the monarchies wield little power these days, though."

[ Waver smiled a little at that. He actually thinks he’s glad too. Nida seemed pretty cool, and he didn’t grate on his nerves the way some people did on purpose… So he nodded. ]

Yeah, me too. I think this should be pretty interesting and I’m glad if I can offer some help while we’re here, anyway.

Slighty vain, but not pompous about it... Perhaps this could work after all, at least for tonight.

"I think your Director was concerned about both of us being alone, so he apparently wanted to give us a +1. Not that I mind it much now, having seen that mine's one of the strongest SOLDIERS."

[ Gray gave a little nod from under her hood. It was actually more exciting to have someone else that sounded excited, too. Infectious in a way. ]

Mmhm! Very. I can’t wait to see what it’s like when it starts.

[ There is just a touch of relief on his face, even if he still hoped Mark wouldn’t push himself to trust before he was ready. Sigma was happy to earn it properly. ]

I’m glad to hear that I am, but I felt it important to say.

[ And he had, so that was enough for now. Finishing his drink, he ordered a soda to replace it as mentioned before. ]

And I’m enjoying myself too, so you know. This dibs’ed blind date has been nice.

[ He might have to thank the person who set this up after all, which he hadn’t thought would be the outcome at all. ]

Nick, again, chuckles to that and nods his head with a warm smile.

"Of course," and turns to head off, then stops, "or, I could order for you. What are you in the mood to try? The menu is on their website if you want to look at it."
