Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

[Bistros were just fancy sandwich shops, right? Right? Someone tell him he's right. Damn, he's clearly not right is he? Man does Clint feel just a bit under dressed in his t-shirt and jeans. This was probably a mess wasn't it? God why did he let Nat set himself up with this?

Who exactly did she know to cause this whole thing? Fuck. Clint sighed and moved into the building, looking for someone at a table alone. Angel. He's looking for an Angel?

When he finds a guy sitting alone he stops and nods a brief hello.]

[There were many people that could arrive, that would make Ravus annoyed to even see them at the start. Not that he would send them away. His sister would be cross. But the man who arrives is elegant, speaks in an elevated manner, and ah, the clothing. He could appreciate a man who had taste in how he might dress himself and chose colors that suited him.

Though a hint of purple would not be amiss.

He rises to his feet and offers the other a polite bow. It was more his style than shaking hands was, perhaps an artifact of his royal upbringing.]

[Though not one that Mark knows quite what to do with. What he does actually know is to shake the hand offered to him with a smile.]

I admit, I kind of am. I've never tried pottery before.

I guess toppings can be nice. What I choose for it tends to depend on the flavors they have. With fruits I want a little bit of fruity stuff too. I don't tend to go with sprinkles though. I don't get it that at all.

He can do this. He's going to wow whoever was behind that door.]

[Leon waited. He'd gotten sassed to dress up, but he wasn't going to. That was, until Aerith sassed him that he 'couldn't go dressed on a date looking like he was going to go fight the Heartless.'

So he stood awkwardly in something of a suit and checked his watch again. Hopefully his date would show up soon.]

"You're nowhere near as irritating as some people. You're not really irritating at all." Squall was just bad at people, but at least Nida didn't leave him wanting to disappear into his quarters every time they crossed paths.

Well that's fair. He usually didn't strike most people has having enough 'presence' to really be irritating. But given his specialty before he'd taken up piloting had been intel and infiltration, it's not that shocking. Of course there hadn't been as much of a chance to use that yet, and there wasn't likely to have been during all that happened. So now he was firmly ensconced in something new.

"Imagine how ineffective I'd be as a pilot if you couldn't even stand being around long enough to give directions."

[okay, what about a nice burning super hero? I do enjoy aging Warren up to college and continuing his layers of 'omfg leave me alone' and 'nah it's okay i will be sage and supportive advice' dude into one. Plus if things get too forward, flustered dude could accidentally lead to burning table. That's awkward.]

"You do a good job." Squall rolls his shoulders, glancing around the room.

"Have you been training others? You're not just going to be the pilot forever." As skilled as he'd proven to be, they needed more options and his other skills would be useful for certain missions.

[Aerith was wrong. Rude would not judge someone who was prepared for a serious fight. Never know how a date is going to go. Had so many turn into bar fights. Rude, though, appears in his own common stuff.

He wasn't? Nida looks shocked at that news. It was where he was helpful, so surely they'd just, you know, keep him there. Though he supposed he was one of the diminished number of SeeDs now.

"I hadn't yet. I should probably start recruiting for that. Selphie's forbidden from it."

No, I really haven't. Had any. This is sorta my friends telling me 'stop moping'. And yeah, 2D is my preference too.

"Selphie is absolutely forbidden. So are Zell and Irvine. I'd recommend Xu or Quistis although they might have some better suggestions among the cadets." Squall glances up when a waitress comes over, orders something to drink.

"Do you want any food?"

Oh god, Zell would be bad too. Nida hasn't interacted with Irvine basically at all so he really doesn't know why Squall is negating that one.

"If Raijin was here I'd suggest him," he admits with a shrug. "He was pretty reliable with this stuff. But that isn't something most people would agree to."

As for the server, he orders a tea and considers.

"If it is all the same to you, I could eat, yes."

Not exactly. I mean, yes, there was a bad breakup, but it was just part of everything being weird. Which is a lot for a first date.

[The other thing, well, Mark gets comfortable before he answers.]

I'm a photographer, so yes. And I don't have a type, so it's a hard question to answer.

[Regardless, Selphie is casually sitting at a table as instructed by her friend and patiently waiting for whoever comes along to attempt to woo her. She's sporting a green dress, just above the knees with a red bow on the back and complimented by a festive hat because she has always loved a good party.

What's your next move, Steve?]

[Honestly, he's seen worse dresses, and the description he was sent earlier on his way in definitely accurate to help guide him to who he was supposed to be meeting for this party he was invited to. His plus one and all of that. He approaches, smiling at her.]

Selphie? I'm Steve. I believe I'm your ticket in tonight?

[Pro-tip. If your friends are going to set you up on a blind date, make sure you manipulate things so that it's at the restaurant you work at because then you know all of the exits out to sneak away if the thing goes bad. That's clearly the best game plan, right?

So here he is, dressed to the nines (for him it's just a nice button up and his work slacks and a nice watch he's borrowing from a friend. He waits at the table in the back, the one with good sight lines that suit the slight paranoia that comes from being trained as a superhero, and nudges the candles on the table. Touch, burning. Touch, not burning. Over and over while he waits.]
