Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

[Steve laughs and nods. He can do that. So he offers his hand to her, happy to guide her.]

Family stuff. I'm not usually dragged out to their parties, but this time I was... encouraged.

[But he's relieved to just not have to go through this alone.]

Honestly, the whole menu is pretty great. I love this place. I know the owners. If you want, I could ask for a sampler. They don't normally do that.

These ones look like t-rexes. So not really dragons, but enough closely common ancestry with them, sans high magical aptitude. I don't know if they're really the same thing at all. Guess I could have gone into science.

[He chucklse and shakes his head. As if he was smart enough for that.]

[He slows the pottery wheel and glances back with a smile.]

If you think so, yeah.

[He grins and moves his hands free.]

Uhm... you! So you'll remember me.

I don't think I could forget you after this.

[Warren smiles at that. He knows the guy should enjoy it.]

Alright. Then let me just get the server.

"It's a date. Shouldn't we be getting to know each other?" Nick asks, gently as he looks Teddy over, then reaches to the side to pet a cat that leaped into his lap.

"You tell me a little bit about you. I tell you a little bit about me."

"Alright. Um... I play two sports at school. Football in the fall, basketball in the winter and spring. I like the basketball more than the football, but it's something to do, you know? Of course it means I spend a lot of time in work outs during the school year until late spring, and then it's all about finals for the year."

"I play rugby. So I also spend a lot of time in work outs during the school year," Nick admits, smiling at how they have something in common, even if they play different sports. "I've had to work harder at my school studies. Especially maths."

Also? "I like basketball as well, though. Rugby is my favorite, though."

A beat. "Do you play anything else? Like outside of school?"

"Math was actually one of my stronger areas, though I'm best in sciences and art. I like to draw a lot. But shared basketball liking is pretty nice."

Play anything else outside of school? Not sport wise, but he's shy about this.

"I guess I'm a bit of a nerd. I've done a bit of D&D."

You should tell me more about you, too.

"I wish I could draw. I would like to see your art sometime, if you would like to share it." Not that he's limited to stick figures, but his art is not remotely close to Elle's level, and probably not Teddy's. Art's all well and good to look at, though.

"Bit of a nerd, yes. Especially if you're good at maths." Nick remarks, smiling at Teddy. He thinks it's cute.

"D&D's not my thing, but I play video games." He pets the cat that's settled with him, warm eyes watching Teddy curiously.

"I'd really be happy to," he says, grinning as he takes out his phone and starts swiping through his photoroll to see if he can't find something he's proud of in the moment.

"I guess I'm a nerd and a geek, and video games are nice, but I invest a lot of the time I'd use for that into comics if I'm fully honest."

"Well, that settles one thing. I'll get you some mix to send back with you." She's glad she didn't pick something ahead of time; it's nice to get someone something they like.

"Are you and your sister close then?"

[Oh, that's a super fair point. He really should share.]

Um, I'm a college student, I'm focused on English Lit, and my mom is, needless to say, disappointed. I work in the food service industry to support myself, my best friend has a green thumb like you'd never believe, and I've been known to dole out thoughtful advice from time to time over tables like this. How's that for a start?

I'm a Fine Arts major - to me an English degree is practical.
