Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

[Is it really a blind date when you're supposed to know each other, but you don't? Because they're supposed to know each other and they both know that, but they don't know each other. And they don't exactly know how they got here, or where exactly "here" is. But here they are.

And here they are. Or will be. Billy's arrived at the coffee shop a little early, because he wanted to make sure he could get the table in the corner. It's a little secluded, great for both privacy and people watching. It's perfect.

Now he just needs to see if his date is going to show up.]

[Yes, it really is still a blind date when there's something really weird about it. Weird about it just tends to be the rule about things around a Maximoff, and that was something people had to get used to or get out of the way of.

So yeah, here's Teddy. Showing up neither too early nor too late, but more toward the former than the latter. Because it's the polite thing to do. Let someone else show up first, let them scope the place and you out, and give them a chance to go rather than keep the whole thing up.

Still, he orders his specific signal meal: a latte and a biscotti with a brownie on the side. Then, with those in hand, he goes looking for a seat, hoping that the guy he's supposed to meet sees the order and waves him in, giving him the metaphorical okay to get started.]

[, they're both early. That's probably a good sign. And he's cute; that's definitely a good sign. Billy waits through the order, waving his hand when the guy looks his way. Billy's got his own signal meal on the table, a mocha and fruit pastry, both neatly placed for visibility. And Billy's wearing his favorite jeans and sweater, both because they're comfortable and he knows they look good.]

Hey. [He smiles when his date comes closer. Tall and blond and gorgeous and he can practically hear Agatha rolling her eyes.] I'm glad you made it.

[Teddy smiles as he settles in, trying not to be nervous. This is not the sort of thing he normally does. But come on, who wouldn't for a smile like that.]

I'm glad too. Uh. Hi. Hello. Teddy. I'm Teddy. Not you, clearly.

It happens, no worries!

[It's just a meet up in a public place, not saving the world. Though perhaps the second might be easier on the nerves. But it's fine, they're both going to be fine.

If nothing else, the coffee here is really good.]

I don't know, I could be Teddy. Maybe I'm hiding it. [Billy's eyes sparkle with mischief before he relents.] I'm Billy.

[Billy? Teddy ducks his head and laughs.]

Guess this is going to rate as some level of excellent then.

[Billy leans across the table, eyes still sparkling. He looks delighted, as if he has a secret to share. In reality, he's just having a great time.]

I hope so. I think I'd like to get to know you.

[Teddy laughs and smiles. Of course he wants to get to be known.]

Well, I think that's what the point of this is. Like, safe space for questions. Like is that fruit pastry really what you're craving, or should I tempt you with brownie?

You can always tempt me. Especially with chocolate.

[Billy's eyes practicslly dance; it's likely clear in his expression that this is going well. He'd expected some awkwardness but the first few minutes have been comfortable more than anything else.]

Though you know, berries and chocolate pair well together. In case you're thinking about sharing.
