Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

Dion smiled. Ravus' words were heartening because it was the Emperor himself that was sure he'd gone off topic and that was bad.

"I will keep that in mind. I suppose getting off topic can be a rather pleasant way to encourage connection."

Hopefully this was going better than he thought.

"It is. It can allow us to find connections," Ravus notes. "So we should allow our words to meander in such manners by which we will come to know each other."

He nodded. "I am afraid that I am somewhat rusty here on matters such as these, but you are indeed correct." It was an apology, as he hadn't meant to ever date again actually after what had transpired between himself and Terence.

"Then perhaps we should find some bit of common ground to meander to."

At least Dion had some experience in relatively recent order. Ravus hadn't been involved in a romance since before his mother's... passing.

Dion smiled with a nod. "I would most certainly welcome a chance to find this common ground you speak of."

He still felt like he was faltering here, but he was going to see this through.

Well then, they should work on it.

"May I ask, then, what it is you do?"

Dion shuffled in his seat although he actually felt as if he were squirming in it. Annabella's words regarding his origins shuffled through his head.

"I am the head of a force known as the Dragoons in my city of Sanbreque. And in turn might I be so bold as to inquire what you do?"

Technically he had Emperor status, but didn't wish to disclose that. What sort of Emperor slaughtered their people due to being weak?

Dragoons? Ravus pauses.

"Could you perchance know a woman named Aranea? She styles herself a dragoon, but I had not been aware there were others who were actively making use of the title now."

Oh, and he supposed he should speak.

"I am with the military."

See, they can both evade.

Dion lowered his head and tried to think. "That name is unfamiliar to me. Is she a friend of yours?" He was pretty sure he'd never heard that name, and unfortunately he couldn't ask Terrance. But upon the morrow, he would check the ranks.

If she was a friend, he'd definitely make sure that she stayed safe due to her acquaintance with Ravus.

And upon hearing Ravus himself was in the military, that made him smile. "I take it that you are not a fellow dragoon."

"An associate, at best," Ravus says. He was not particularly fond of the woman after all. Nor would he care to ask for more, she was tiring.

But of course he has his own question to consider here.

"Dragoonish style is not my own. I am more akin to a fencer in style. I prefer ground based combat."

"I see." Dion reflected thoughtfully. Perhaps he'd been in error at their acquaintance level then. Well that put him off of the hunt tomorrow. Plus there was a certain face he didn't wish to see so that might well prove to be fortunate after all.


The prince nodded. "Fighters are certainly needed on the ground while the dragoons ply their trade with aerial combat. Combined they are quite formidable."

"Yet there is much to be respected in those who are capable of such aerial grace. I only served with the one, and her own unit were ground based."

But luckily such military focus was not his own in these days. He was a leader now, not a fighter.

"These days I find myself more thoughtful as to the less military applications of such abilities."

[forsanbreque]

Dion smiled. Wars and fighting couldn't go on forever, and if this man had somehow been able to ponder something else. "And what have you come up with?"

[disarming_prince]

"What do you know of the nation of Tenebrae?"

Because he could think of a lot of uses for such abilities as this man might possess in landscape like his homeland.

Dion shook his head. "I've heard next to nothing in regards to that nation." It was an honest answer although he did wonder if that answer would vex his companion. "Why do you ask?"

[disarming_prince]

"Ah," Ravus said. Which was of course not a problem but it meant there was more explanations required.

"The terrain is... abnormal there. IT is mountainous, but if one were to look upon the spires and peaks when you were not there, you would be quite concerned that they would be prone to falling at any moment. Exploration and scouting is difficult."

Dion listened to Ravus explain and he nodded. "Spires and peaks offer no issue to a dragoon, as I'm sure you're aware through the lady you mention." Still it had him thinking about it. "I take it these same spires will not fall even if they may look as it that were the case?"

[disarming_prince]

"Indeed. And Aranea of course is not invested in Tenebrae. Given we have a fiend problem and a need to expand..."

Well, they need scouts.

"You are not incorrect. The place seems more precarious than it truly is."

Dion listened and it really sounded as if he was in a plight. If this man's friend or whatever wouldn't help, there was one logical conclusion that he could come to.

"So in dealing with fiends, do you require assistance?"

[disarming_prince]

Yes, they do require assistance. In a way.

"It would be valuable to have scouts who are capable of protecting themselves, yes. I cannot do it all myself, not with the other duties I have."

[forsanbreque]

Dion nodded.

"In that case, I'm more than happy to assist with this endeavour of yours."

He really had no idea what he was volunteering for, but he could handle fiends or whatever was thrown at him. And besides, it would give him the added bonus of spending more time in the company of this man.

That he would look forward to.

[disarming_prince]

"You are free to make such agreements?" Ravus asks, intrigued by that. How interesting. "I think I should be happy to see how you move through the area."

[forsanbreque]

He nodded. "I am." Considering who he was, but that wasn't important right now. Sure he'd have to run it by his advisors and all of that, but with enough negotiating Dion was more than confident that even a few of his best would be able to accompany him.

Forging ties would be a good thing too.

"How soon would you need assistance?"

[disarming_prince]

"Whenever it could be spared. At this time I am relying upon those who owe me favors and they refuse to take payment."

Which is frustrating.

That had Dion's sympathy. "I'm sorry to hear those that owe you haven't yet paid their debts to you."

Hearing that was terrible and he wondered what type of people wouldn't repay what was owed.
