Blind Date Meme

Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play
1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)
2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!
3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

There was a smile. "I'm pleased to hear that. But I take it that you yourself don't cook?" IT wasn't a skill that he heard a lot of guys possessed or even did as a hobby, but he wasn't about to let that stop him personally.

As soon as Zack sat down, he rearranged the Triple Risotto, the roast and the baked potatoes onto plates. And what didn't fit on those went on other plates for extras.

"Nope," Zack says with a laugh. "We eat at a mess hall, so it isn't really a talent I've picked up. My mentor does, but he tried to teach me once and that went... Well, the fire was manageable?"

Zack just got distracted.

"Oh wow, this looks so pretty. I've never seen pretty food before."

Ignis looked almost alarmed. "A fire? Well, in that case, you can leave the cooking to me." There was what he hoped was a reassuring smile and he finished putting the last of the plates down when he got the compliment and smiled.

"Cooking is a science, but I daresay that there is a bit of art in it.'

"Ah, a science? No wonder I'm bad at it. Always got bad grades in that sort of stuff," he says with a laugh.

Ignis smiled and sat down after the drinks were placed on the table. Manners forbade him from eating first and so he nodded.

"Where are you looking to start with the food?"

"Um, is there a proper point to start?" he asks. Because he doesn't want to do this wrong and upset the guy. But it all looks so damn good!

Ignis smiled and took a sip of his drink. Then he gestured with it towards the table.

"Not at all, please help yourself."

He wasn't interested in decorum and had planned it to be rather casual in the whole getting to know one another thing.

"Awesome!"

He grins and starts loading up because wow, if there was one thing a Soldier could always do, it was chow down.

"This is great," he says with a laugh. "I have to eat a lot to keep up with my enhancements."

Ignis smiled at Zack's enthusiasm. He wasn't about to keep tabs on the man's eating habits either, this was supposed to be casual. Smiling at what was said, he kept his thoughts to himself but did manage a small comment as he began plating his own food.

"There's plenty there, so do eat as much as you like."

"Oh man, I really will then," he says with a grin. because he would be so happy to stuff his belly. "You sure it's okay?"

Nothing like seeing smiles on the faces of the people that he cooked for. He'd said those words long ago and meant them still, especially now.

"Yes. And in time if you can think of any dish that you particularly enjoyed back home, let me know the ingredients and I'll see if I can't recreate it for you."

Wow, he doesn't know if he really could come up with what was in the things that he liked, or at least what was in them.

"I don't really know how to explain Gongagan cuisine."

"Mayhaps in time you can." Ignis replied. If this turned out well, he would be more than delighted to hear all sorts of stories or anything else he might learn about this handsome stranger. But for now, food was where it was at.

So he quietly sat with his food after Zack had helped himself and left the conversation to start once they've eaten or Zack started.

He'll have to write his mom and ask her for input for what to tell this guy.

"So, is cooking, like, the thing you do to pass time?"

"I find that I'm rather fond of seeing the looks on the faces of the people that I cook for." Ignis replied. "It's been a necessity on the road at times, so the knowledge has come in rather handy."

Wait. Zack frowns as he thinks about it.

"So you do it because it's handy and because it makes people smile. But does it make YOU smile?"

Because that should matter more.

In a sense, Ignis had never been asked such a question. But here he smiles as he finishes getting everything on his plate.

"Yes, to see others enjoy my cooking makes me smile."

And Zack had already pretty much done so as well.

"Oh, well then I guess you're gonna smile a lot today!"

Because Zack knows his own body needs, and the few bites he's taken so far are already amazing.

Ignis smiled and reached for his full glass. "Well I will appreciate that." There were a few things he had an ego regarding, and the cooking that he did was one of his Achilles' heels. However if this man supped at his table and had a full belly after enjoying the food, Ignis would be happy.

Don't worry, he's on his way to the full belly, carefully fitting food into his mouth whenever he's not saying anything. And he's even polite enough not to talk again until he's swallowed.

"So, what's the thing you like cooking the most?"
