The old team crowded around Steve, basically herding him in the direction of Billy much to his annoyance. He only allowed it because it gave him a reason to listen in without it being way more awkward than it could have been.

"Hey now there is a guy who looks like he's making a name for himself!" Tommy jeered, elbowing Steve who pushed back, finally stepping out of the mod. "Unlike Stevie boy here."

"Shut it Hagan," Steve rolled his eyes, glancing at Billy before moving to get a refill on his own drink. "Long time no see Hargrove."

There's nothing accusatory in Steve's tone and in fact it seems friendlier directed at Billy than it had been at the others. "Max didn't mention you'd be in town."
