Billy turns to the refreshment table and puts the card down before uncapping the marker. He's been asked to do this once before, and it probably won't make the card valuable or anything, but he does sign it with a quick scrawl. Once that's done, he hands it back to Steve.
"Give that to him, next time you see him," he says. "And if he wants the original I still have it in my storage unit."
Hadn't been able to part with it. Couldn't bear to look at it as much. But Byers might benefit from it in his own way. Once the marker is away he's left to smile at Steve.

He's not engaging with the 'you look good' or the 'i'm happy for you' because back home those would be words that might get him taking a guy to a bar or a club, and here... It's a long weekend.
