Steve misses the look on Billy's face as he tucks away his wallet and continues to laugh.
"I mean, I enjoy my job. Not so much this town. It's quieted down though, so that's nice. Things," He gives Billy a knowing look but doesn't elaborate. "Stopped happening and the place healed."
It was easier talking about Max and the rest of the brats, that was for sure.
"Oh they were on and off for at least a year, but Lucas worships her. And Neil...well he didn't stick around that much longer after you left. Felt bad for Max's mom...Susan? She's a sweet lady, but she took it really hard. I don't know how much you two have talked. I'm glad she's been better lately though." Laughing he shook his head. "Sometimes I swear Max took up some of your habits after you left. I think you had way more influence on her than you might have known."
