"Do I?" Steve looked puzzled for a minute before remembering what Max had talked about later in life about Neil Hargrove. Not nearly as much about Billy since she knew he wouldn't want her talking about him and his experiences, but her own. At least before he skipped town just like Billy. So an attentive and loving dad probably was impressive to Billy.
"I mean, I try not to be like so many of the dads that were floating around when I was young. Or not in my case." He shrugged as they drove.
