For the most part the house is pretty dark aside from a light coming from the den, low music and the sound of a pen on paper scratching. Steve had been awake late working on grading papers as well as making some last minute changes to his lesson plans when he heard the door.

There's a pause in the scratching before his head pops out around the door frame and he smiles with a small wave.
