Sometimes Your Friends Come To Parties

There were pros and cons to this whole thing. Pro? Rich people snacks. Con? People expect certain sorts of behavior. Pro? Making people unknowingly rub elbows with Eric Lehnsherr's grandson. Con? What the fuck was he even wearing with this suit? Pro? At least he knew someone here. Con? People sometimes gave him weird looks when he said 'season's greetings' and not 'merry christmas'.

In the end, he didn't look fully comfortable, not with the suit (though A+ to his uncle for helping him find one), and not with the rich people. And most definitely with the doorway he was looking to go through, but seemed nervous about.

"Mistletoe, really?" Tommy asked.

Thing was, he could easily get past it with no one there if he went at speed. But the other side was the other con here: not giving away his identity. This was frustrating.

Attending stuffy parties was a necessary evil sometimes. Rich criminals don't usually go to sleazy dives to discuss business. Instead, they do it with what they think is classy and away from the unwashed masses. It's the only reason why Jason's agreed to attend tonight. But by god, he wasn't going to suffer alone this time.

After making his rounds and gathering enough intel, Jason goes to find Tommy. After a few minutes, he smirks when he sees the silver-haired man with the mistletoe.

"Hey, stranger," Jason greets in amusement.

"Hey," he says, before gesturing at the mistletoe. "Waiting for a free moment to walk through the door."

"Aw. Need a hand? I'm almost done," Jason offers.

Oh come on man, don't even be like that.

"Nah, I just need people to stop walking through it. I'm not going to walk under mistletoe and risk someone not kissing me for it if they're under there. With my family's luck, there'd be a curse or something."

Sorry, Tommy but Jason remains amused.

"You know you got someone as an out, right? I think I can take my chances."

Seriously? Tommy raises an eyebrow.

"There's no paps here, right? I don't need the controversy of being a nice kid from Jersey making out with a Wayne ward in his own home."

"I can see it now," Jason snickers. "'Brucie' has been a bad influence on his kids and they're picking up his playboy habits."

But Jason understands the hesitation. It's not good to draw more attention than necessary tonight.

"A quick peck then?"

"And then people are still going to wonder who I am," Tommy said, but he does look tempted. After all, he does like making out with Jason. A lot. Dude's hot.

Jason likes making out with Tommy a lot as well. And then some.

"It'd be hell of a shock if they ever learn who dear old grandpa is," he says.

He then leans forward to whisper something near Tommy's ear.

"A quick peck and something more as soon as we get out of here?"

"Which grandpa?" Tommy countered with a smirk. He wouldn't be approved of for either of them.

The whisper does get him to freeze and he fights to not blush. IT's just sorta intimate in this sort of place to do that.

"Okay, sounds good. Just... Make it PG I guess? Not that I don't want more. Man, does your family even know we hook up?"

"I never told them but they probably suspect something by now. Maybe they found out on their own," Jason replies calmly. Him and his entire family were basically like ninjas, working in shadows and using stealth. Snooping just came with part of their jobs.

Maintaining a cool expression and keeping his body relaxed so to not draw attention, Jason gently tugs Tommy towards the doorway, gives a quick kiss on the cheek, and then walks through just as quickly.

Though Jason doesn't have superspeed, he was trained to deft by normal human standards.

Tommy gets that they're not in a 'tell the family' situation because it's a fucking friendship and bootie call, so it's not quite the same thing. But it's still something he knows might be weird.

While he thinks it's not too hard to drag him along for the kiss so they can move on.

"You're weird sometimes, man."

Jason laughs.

"How so?"

"I don't know. You have so much fucking confidence."

Which TOmmy did too, but Jason had it in different ways.

Jason's surprised by the comment. He knows he's confident most of the time but he hadn't considered it weird for the most part.

"Hey, I got to with a life like mine. Plus, you're not so bad your self."

Confident around these people? That's a whole other thing.

"I'm not used to rich people and penguin suits."

"Most people aren't used to it. This shit's a whole other world," Jason says. Then he lowers his voice as more guests walk by. "I only know how to get around because I've been doing it for years. Doesn't mean I like it."

"I kinda hate it. These people sorta suck."

Tommy's whispering too, and he doesn't like all of this.

"At least I don't think I've offended anyone."

Jason gently squeezes Tommy's shoulder to reassure him.

"You did fine," he murmurs. "These assholes are too full of themselves. Thanks again for coming with me."

"No problem. It's been an interesting night. The snacks have been amazing."

He's definitely enjoyed it a lot.

Jason chuckles.

"Yeah, the finger foods are always the best parts of these kinds of parties," he says, remembering all the times he chowed down on them as a kid while barely tolerating galas. "Take as much as you want."

"Nah. The serving staff for things like this? They often get the leftovers. I'm not taking more off of them," Tommy said. It's not the right thing to do.

Jason smiles back appreciatively. Tommy's right.

"Yeah, that's fair. They could use it after dealing with a crowd like this."

[doubled_speed]

"And they could use drinks, but that's not going to happen so easily for them."

And he accepts it as it is.

"Yeah. Bruce always makes sure they get paid well at least."

Jason nods back at a guest he recognizes before looking back at Tommy.

"I got everything I need tonight so we can get going."
