Blind Date Meme

Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play
1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)
2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!
3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

[Jasper is one who has confidence whenever he enters a room. He strikes in with no hesitation, poised and vaguely haughty. But also, though he would never admit to it, nervous. He has not done such a thing as make time to spend with another in so long.

Hopefully he has not been stood up though. That would be quite a blow.]

[Terra's eyes lit up when he saw the other man heading towards him. Granted, he wasn't sure this was the guy he was supposed to be meeting, but wow was he handsome. Slowly Terra stood up as the other came near.]

I'm Terra, are you..

[His voice failed him for a moment.]

are you Jasper?

Indeed, I am.

[Alright then. This wasn't so bad. At least the man would be good to look at if nothing else positive came of it.]

I hope I have not proven late.

[This man was definitely good looking and Terra wasn't sure what to make of it. Sure he'd seen all sorts of things when he was in Greece for the Games, and he had turned away and blushed a lot every time. But having someone here for him was quite different than turning his head away and pretending that he saw nothing when he'd gotten quite the eye full.

Smiling, he shook his head.]

Not at all, you're right on time.

Ah, that is wonderful to hear. I would hate to display myself in such a horrid manner. But now that I am present, we should see to our evening together.

[Terra smiled as the man spoke ad being worried about displaying himself in a horrid manner. He got the gist of what the man was saying, but it was adorable almost.]

Right. Are you hungry? We should probably eat if you are.

Food would be welcome. It is something I would look forward to. Especially if there are sweets.

[Terra couldn't help but smile.]

I guess we'll have to save room for dessert then. But let's get a table and sit.

[Brave of him to assume that Jasper 'saves room' for dessert so much as has to be forced to consider room for a proper meal.]

Alright then. I wish a table in a nice spot, with good views. And my back to a wall.

[Terra smiled and the hostess came over to seat them. Immediately he gave Jasper's specifications and she nodded, seating them immediately. Once they sat down and were handed menus, Terra smiled.]

This works, right?

It does.

[He settles himself down as well and smiles. This was considerate. And with a menu in hand, he's immediately flipping to the desserts.]

Shall we start with something sweet?

[Terra could only smile as Jasper approved and wanted to eat dessert first. Well he could go along with that too.]

Sure, we can do that.

[And while he was sure he wouldn't find Aqua's Galactic pound cake, he started looking for something similar. Strawberry shortcake sounded good. still, he should ask or something. So he waited a few minutes and then looked up over the top of his menu.]

What looks good to you?

[Strawberry shortcake was most definitely on the list of things he desired.]

It seems they have a lovely fruit torte. Perhaps that, and a slice of shortcake. It would be pleasing of course. Fruit is quite good for you, as is cream.

[Terra couldn't help but smile at the answer.]

Fruits are good for you, but then if you add cream doesn't that defeat the goodness?

[Really? Jasper's warmth turns, for a moment, very icy. Was his date truly about to judge him for his taste?]

Dairy is a delight. It is good for your bones and skin. Do you not know this?

[Terra's not sure what happened to cause the tone, but he's trying to figure it out.]

I've heard that. I just used to get lectures when I would get told by my Master about nutrition and then I would add ice cream or cream and he'd tell me I was ruining the nutritional value of the fruit.

Your master sounds frustrating.

[Tedious and annoying would be what Jasper really feels, but he is attempting to be proper here to make things work out better.]

You should allow yourself to enjoy things for a while.

He could be.

[Terra still had so much remorse and regret on that count for several different reasons. But he wasn't going to focus on it. So Jasper's words were something of a healing balm here and Terra smiled a little.]

Ya, I'm going to work on that. And in the meantime we'll enjoy these desserts.

[Well, that works for Jasper, he's so very happy.]

Alright then, let's see what we can get them to bring us then. Perhaps a sampler.

[He'd never heard of a date with dessert only but then again dates and Terra didn't go in the same sentence. And instead of staring at the gorgeous man, he politely consulted the menu to see about this sampler thing that Jasper was referring to.]

That sounds good.

[One should really take the time to be more creative on dates. Why should such a special occasion be celebrated with only mundane things? At least that is the argument that Jasper would make.]

Alright then. We shall start there. And if we still find room after, we shall seek other things out.

[He lowered the menu and smiled.]

That sounds good. What dessert did you decide to start with?

[Conversation and getting to know this man's likes and dislikes were important.]

There is a lovely looking strawberry cream cake. I shall have a slice of that.

You know, that sounds good.

[Although strawberries made him think of Aqua. And he'd been looking at what was called French Silk pie.]

Then of course we shall have to have a slice or two.

[Or three. Listen, it's cheat day.]
