Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

[Consider: something that starts as a date in a casual sort of place turning into two dudes ending up on an accidental chase or crime being stopped because Clint is just cursed.]

[The Bistro was a place that Angeal had planned to meet up with his date at. So he was here, looking forward to a nice relaxed casual atmosphere. The frugal side of Angeal had balked at some of the menu items but gil was shoved at him so he could do a 'proper' date. Not seeing anyone else sitting alone, the First class sat down and waited.]

[Bistros were just fancy sandwich shops, right? Right? Someone tell him he's right. Damn, he's clearly not right is he? Man does Clint feel just a bit under dressed in his t-shirt and jeans. This was probably a mess wasn't it? God why did he let Nat set himself up with this?

Who exactly did she know to cause this whole thing? Fuck. Clint sighed and moved into the building, looking for someone at a table alone. Angel. He's looking for an Angel?

When he finds a guy sitting alone he stops and nods a brief hello.]

Hi. I'm looking for an Angel?

[He saw the guy come in and then looked back down at the glass of ice water that the waitress had been kind enough to give him once he said he was waiting for his date. He wasn't sure how long to give this person but he'd wait about an hour or so. After that, he'd call Genesis and tell him to forget about blind date set ups.

Hearing footsteps approach, the man he saw come into the Bistro was looking down at him.]

I'm Angeal.

[Nope, no angel here.]

[Angeal, huh? Clint smirks as he looks the guy over.]

Are you sure about that? Because I think arguments could be made.

[He would have to admit that he wasn't used to being looked over as was being done right now. Well, unless one counted fights, but this wasn't that.]

I'm sure, thanks.

[In his mind he was flustered.]

[Clint grins then pulls out a chair so he can sit down.]

So, you ever been to this restaurant before? It's a bit... nice where where I usually go.

No, not this one. And I usually eat at home.

[That gives him a moment to breathe.]

But you've been here before?

[wisecracking_shot]

Nope!

[But he's been to plenty of other restaurants before.]

You down for this? I hear it's nice.

[heavenlyhonour]

[Okay so that was a no? But he let it go and nodded.]

I'm alright with it. Couldn't hurt to try a new place, right?

I mean, it could. I've been beat up at hotdog stands before.

[But he's smiling happily and he moves forward to join Angeal at the table.]

So, you look at the menu yet?

[heavenlyhonour]

You? Beat up?

[He didn't understand. And that doubled when asked the question.]

No, I can look at it now though.

[Sorry, he was having a conversation first which was polite.]

It's been a problem before. Once or twice.

[Awesome, he can look at the menu as well.]

I just sorta have bad luck with hot dog stands.

[Angeal wasn't sure what to make of this guy being beat up but that wasn't going to happen here. But he ducked his head back down to look at the menu for a second.]

Should I ask about the bad luck?

I mean, you're totally welcome to. I've got no qualms talking about it. Just don't know that you're going to be as amused by the answers as I am. People think it's weird, or tell me luck isn't real.

[He nodded.]

I believe that luck is real alright. It's saved my men more than a few times.

Well then you get it. If good luck exists, so does bad luck. And I'm rich in that sometimes.

[He nodded.]

Can't really have one without the other.

Actually, maybe you can? Maybe I'm taking up so much of the bad luck that other people get all the good luck?

[This had him shaking his head.]

I somehow really doubt that.

[Oh come on. Clint laughs.]

My life will definitely make you reconsider that.

Angeal smiled.

"Then at this point, it's a waiting game."

[wisecracking_shot]

"Isn't that the way that it always goes?"

He laughs and looks the menu over.

"You good with something filling?"

[heavenlyhonour]

Angeal nodded to the first question and continued to peruse the menu until he heard the second question.

Looking up at the other man he nodded.

"What did you have in mind?"

"Honestly, I'm not as picky as you'd think. If it's good and there's plenty, I want it."

Which means he doesn't quite know what to pick up.
