Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

[Ignis had no idea who's sordid idea of a joke this was, but he would put on a good face and get this date over with. For starters, Ignis had a cheese, meat and fruit charcuterie board. For dinner he'd made the crown city roast with mushrooms on the side, silky smooth sous vide mashed potatoes, and broccoli in a mild cheddar sauce. For dessert, he made the Kupoberry cheesecake and had ice cream and sprinkles to go with it as well.

Dinner would be around seven and so he decided that would be dressed as impeccably as ever and had just enough time to take a shower to freshen up and change his clothes. He fussed with a few minute last things such as plates, flatware, glassware and drinks before he heard the knock on the door.

Well, time to get the party started he supposed, and so he answered the door.]

[Zack was so grateful that Genesis was clearly starting to like him more, arranging for Zack to get out and meet more people. He smiles as he stands at the door, a big bouquet of flowers in his hands, waiting for the door to open.

He can do this. He's going to wow whoever was behind that door.]

[Hearing the knock at the door, Ignis had just finished lighting the candles on the table and set the matches down. With one last look at a perfectly set table, he turned and opened up the door.

This was the lad that he'd seen sparring on a few occasions, but they'd never been formally introduced. And then of course his green eyes slid to the flowers and that impressed him with how thoughtful that was.]

I am Ignis Scientia, it's a pleasure to finally get to meet you face to face.

[Well you're supposed to bring flowers on a date, right? He wants to do this right.]

Zack Fair. Gladio told me how to get here but I got a little lost. I'm not too late am I?

[He pulled the door open a lot wider.]

Welcome in then Zack. And no you're right on time. However please do come in and I'll fetch a vase to put those lovely flowers in.

[He grins and steps in, handing over the flowers. A vase sounds good.]

Great. I don't want to be late. I'm not always the best at it. I get lost sometimes. But not this time. Not as bad as I could have.

[Ignis had taken the flowers and started to move the across the room when he heard Zack's explanation. He laughed slightly.]

It's quite alright. But you had no trouble finding the place did you?

I mean, no more than usual.

[Angeal is going to think he should probably take some time to review maps and orienteering.]

No more than usual..

[Ignis gave Zack a concerned look as he worked on getting the flowers put into their vase.]

Do you perhaps have a GPS on your phone?

Oh yeah, I have one of those.

[That doesn't mean they're all that useful to him. He does smile though.]

But it's so confusing.

Ignis smiled over his shoulder as he continued to finish up tending to the flowers. "I'm certainly willing to show you how it all works if you're willing to learn."

And then he turned back to getting the flower food in the vase. The arrangement would definitely complement the table setting.

It's not like people haven't shown him a hundred times. But he won't say no to more lessons. He smiles and looks at the flowers.

"Angeal says it's important to learn when it's offered to you. So yeah, I'm okay with that."

"And who is this Angeal you speak of if I might be so bold as to inquire?" Ignis asked, finishing up with the flowers.

Whoever it was, they must be important.

"My mentor," Zack says with a smile. Because why wouldn't he be happy when he talks about it? Angeal had given him just about everything. "He taught me a lot."

Ignis nodded with a smile in satisfaction at hearing his answer. "Well that's good to hear that you had a good person to be there for you."

Setting the flowers down on the table, he turned to finish getting dinner on the table. He'd made the Crown City Roast of course along with some baked potatoes. He also had the chance to make the Triple However, the first thing he set down on the table was a salad and freshly baked garlic bread.

After setting that down, he smiled. "Please have a seat. I hope you brought your appetite with you."

"Oh, it goes everywhere with me," he says with a smile as he moves to sit down. Yeah, this looks amazing.

"I haven't seen anything so good in a long time."

There was a smile. "I'm pleased to hear that. But I take it that you yourself don't cook?" IT wasn't a skill that he heard a lot of guys possessed or even did as a hobby, but he wasn't about to let that stop him personally.

As soon as Zack sat down, he rearranged the Triple Risotto, the roast and the baked potatoes onto plates. And what didn't fit on those went on other plates for extras.

"Nope," Zack says with a laugh. "We eat at a mess hall, so it isn't really a talent I've picked up. My mentor does, but he tried to teach me once and that went... Well, the fire was manageable?"

Zack just got distracted.

"Oh wow, this looks so pretty. I've never seen pretty food before."

Ignis looked almost alarmed. "A fire? Well, in that case, you can leave the cooking to me." There was what he hoped was a reassuring smile and he finished putting the last of the plates down when he got the compliment and smiled.

"Cooking is a science, but I daresay that there is a bit of art in it.'

"Ah, a science? No wonder I'm bad at it. Always got bad grades in that sort of stuff," he says with a laugh.

Ignis smiled and sat down after the drinks were placed on the table. Manners forbade him from eating first and so he nodded.

"Where are you looking to start with the food?"

"Um, is there a proper point to start?" he asks. Because he doesn't want to do this wrong and upset the guy. But it all looks so damn good!

Ignis smiled and took a sip of his drink. Then he gestured with it towards the table.

"Not at all, please help yourself."

He wasn't interested in decorum and had planned it to be rather casual in the whole getting to know one another thing.

"Awesome!"

He grins and starts loading up because wow, if there was one thing a Soldier could always do, it was chow down.

"This is great," he says with a laugh. "I have to eat a lot to keep up with my enhancements."

Ignis smiled at Zack's enthusiasm. He wasn't about to keep tabs on the man's eating habits either, this was supposed to be casual. Smiling at what was said, he kept his thoughts to himself but did manage a small comment as he began plating his own food.

"There's plenty there, so do eat as much as you like."
