Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

"I think I would advise the prime rib. It is beautifully well done here. Truly worthy of appreciation. Hopefully it shall match the standards of the company I have at my side today."

Of course he isn't going to stop flirting.

"So you've.."

His voice cut off as Genesis complimented him and his face turned a slight shade of red as he quieted. It was really great to be flirted with and he appreciated it. It had taken his advisor quite a lot of time and effort to get him to recognize flirting since he was usually oblivious to it.

Words fumbled around in his head because people didn't flirt with him back home, but then again he stuck with his closest friends even if he was the one getting assignments from people and doing the talking during shopping.

The thing was that people closest to him knew how he felt usually by looking at his eyes and gauging their expressions. He was clearly pleased if one was going by that and the power of speech came back.

"I hope you never stop doing that."

Oh what a fetching shade of red. Genesis, a specialist in all the loveliest shades of red, appreciates this one in particular. It's just quite fetching.

"What? Enjoying the look of you? Appreciating it and being vocal to said ends? Would you wish poetry? I assure you I could manage with such an ideal muse."

The king was flustered, started laughing self consciously and shook his head, working on finding his voice. "You can do poetry next time, but you know how to make a guy blush for sure."

If he didn't screw this up. But it made him wonder if Genesis was just really into him. Not that Noct would mind that at all, especially by the sounds of things.

Does he? Genesis is very proud of this. He smiles to himself.

"Perhaps those men who are capable of so easily blushing are the ones most worth prompting it from. Truly it lights up your face in a delicious sort of style."

If he could just go hide in a hole or something whenever he got a compliment, he'd be good. "Thanks, it's just not a common thing where I'm from."

Noctis half squirmed nervously in his chair. "Glad to see you're so good at it though, the compliments."

He wished he could be that open.

"Then it is quite likely that those people where you are from happen to be blind. Or at least too foolish to find their tongues to make proper use of them."

But he does enjoy the way the man continues to be so flustered by the compliments.

"Perhaps I should not lavish them so freely. I would not wish them to lose their power."

The red head's reply got a laugh out of the king. Ignis would more than likely be furious and arguing that just for the sake of rebuttal. His advisor would be no doubt be spitting out his beloved Ebony in order to retort such a claim.

"I appreciate what you're saying. But it's up to you if you want to keep going with them." He couldn't figure out for the life of him how to say that he was totally fine with hearing them.

"Perhaps you might wish to tell me whether you would enjoy them or not," Genesis says with a fond smile. Because he doesn't wish to make the man uncomfortable.

He smiled shyly. "No they're great. I'm just..not used to them."

That was the truth and there was no point in lying to this gorgeous man.

[silent_sacrifice]

How intriguing. And how disgusting. Because that is just really that depressing.

"Well, you need not worry. I shall work to accustom you to the praise you deserve, darling."

Darling? Well that was a new one. Only Ignis used that term, and it wasn't ever directed at him, which it shouldn't be.

So he smiled. "I'm not sure you should trouble yourself, but I'd still appreciate it."

[silent_sacrifice]

"You presume that it would be trouble to give you such things as you are properly due," Genesis notes, shaking his head.

"Perhaps we should start showing you the value you deserve by spoiling you with much delicious things to eat. Shall we?"

This guy had charm for days or weeks. He'd definitely rival Ignis although that would rankle the advisor to hear that. Maybe he should totally do it later, whenever that would be. Right now he had quite the companion to pay attention to.

"Eating definitely sounds good."

It was all he could focus on.

Could the advisor really charm like Genesis could? That would be impressive and rather unlikely in his opinions.

"Then we should order," he says with a smile, looking once more at his menu rather than upon Noctis.

"Got it."

Flirting aside, Noctis focused on the menu because otherwise he was just going to keep staring at his companion and as Ignis always said 'staring was rude'.

As the king perused the menu, he couldn't help but wonder how this was all going to go.

IT would not be staring. It would be admiring. And that was wntirely different and acceptable. When Genesis finished with thinking through his selections he put the menu down and instead turned his own admiring gaze upon his unexpected date.

Steak was always perfectly acceptable. Beef was what he'd told Gladio as far as his favourite ingredient went in having a Cup of Noodles. Of course the shield had waxed almost poetic about it and Noctis had half laughed through the unintended speech.

But once he decided, his menu lowered and he saw Genesis.

That red hair just got to him.

There was a small self conscious laugh as he addressed his companion.

"Well hello there."

[silent_sacrifice]

"Hello," he greets back. "Have you made your decision? Know that if you could not find it in yourself to choose between two, I can order one and we can share."

He's a Soldier. His metabolism means he could easily pack away an additional entree. He'll probably order a second one to go if he's honest.

He smiled and the way Genesis had replied to him was just so..damn sensual. No, couldn't reveal that here so he nodded.

"I'll have the steak."

But boy that sharing offer had his mind going. Feeding each other would be amazing but he was too nervous and a hand went to his stomach under the table.

"Wonderful," Genesis says with a warm smile. "I believe I shall have the surf and turf myself. To allow for a variation of tastes."

And perhaps to feed the other man lobster.

"That works and sounds really good." Noctis agreed. He ate fish a lot so when he went out he was looking for something that he couldn't so easily get his hands on. So he'd decided on having something that he'd normally have to break a sweat to bring down.

All the work was already done for him.

The variation of tastes comment tumbled over and over in his mind like a hamster in a wheel. Lots of effort, but going nowhere.

Wonderful, that little hamster. It should be treated until it gets through the energy and figures out where it's going. Yes. That would be beautiful.

"Wonderful. I would be so glad to treat you in such ways."

[fatedsacrifice]

He wanted to ask the man if he fished at all, but figured that wasn't an appropriate question at the moment.

"Thanks." The king felt a little self conscious about someone openly wanting to treat him well in an intimate setting. It was nice though even if a little nerve wracking. Did this guy date a lot? He probably did considering his good looks. And why hadn't they worked out?

All of the questions went unasked because he wasn't about to pry. Still, it took Noctis a minute to formulate a question.

"You mention you'd be glad to treat me, but what are some gifts that you would like?" His stomach started doing butterflies and he reached a hand down to cover it.

Oh dear, would Noctis not be disappointed to know that Genesis did not in fact fish and did not enjoy it. Perhaps that was what would make them incompatible, even if everything else went well.

Gifts that he would like? What a thing to consider.

"I am quite partial to well bound editions of literary classics. Especially Loveless."
