Blind Date Meme



Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.

That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.

No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.

How to Play

1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc)

2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead!

3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date.

4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

Maybe consider our next meeting a reason to, I won’t be happy if I find that you’ve neglected yourself.

[ He’s not entirely sure what to make of his new life here, or what to expect from it. But he hopes it wont bore Mark too much.

That’s nice of you to say. I’ll try to remember that if I hesitate to share a boring update.

[ And he does provide small text updates over the next few days, perhaps a little awkwardly. It might seem like he’s holding back a little, but some of the specifics of getting his life… back on track… or in order to begin with…? Were a little awkward. Other texts also indicate his new job includes a lot of very quirky people that he’s clearly adjusting to being around.

But eventually the text about wanting to set up times for a meet up are sent. ]

Hey, it looks like I’ll have some time off next week. Are you still interested in getting together to introduce me to musicals?

[At least Mark's kind and sends things back that seem really invested and supportive.]

I'm really interested. I'm going to start making a playlist. Can you do at least two?

[ His being supportive has been very nice, a little scary in its own way, given his experiences… but nice. ]

I think I can definitely do two. Have you decided which ones already or is that going to be a surprise?

Yeah, a list of movies to watch. From most important and vital, to the things that are also good but maybe we won't get to.

Singing in the Rain is absolutely the first one. I'll think on the second.

That sounds like you have a good plan in place to me. Is there anything I should bring to go with them? Like snacks or something?

[ If Mark was putting so much effort into it, Sigma wanted to help in what ways he could. ]

[ Ah… Good question, what were his favourite movie snacks? Did he even have those? He had favourite snacks, but he wasn’t sure if they counted as traditional movie snacks. ]

If you’re sure, I really don’t mind stopping somewhere on my way. But… I’m partial to chocolate chip cookies?

[ If not, he guessed he could ask the resident snacker at the agency for advice… ]

Oooh, non-traditional. Rock it. I'll definitely get some of those then.

[ Relief! That was not as bad a response as he was worried about, so he smiled a little. If non-traditional wasn’t a bad thing, then maybe this would work out okay, given he couldn’t really say there was much of anything traditional about him to begin with. ]
