It's For Your Own Good

Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.
That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.
No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.
How to Play1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc) 2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead! 3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date. 4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

The king found his nicest dress up suit and got out of the car as fast as possible. Watching Ignis drive away, Noctis turned his attention to the double doors of the restaurant and took a deep breath before heading inside.]

Which is a lie. It probably makes him more recognizable given he was in his red leather and his normal jewelry. At least he'd put on a nice white reinterpretation of a peasant blouse under it for some interesting change. And leather pants. Who could go wrong with leather pants?]

For a brief moment, Noct faltered. But then he took another breath and moved to the other side of the table, standing there looking at the man sitting there.]
Are you Genesis?
no subject
[He's so used to having to turn people away due to his fame while at restaurants that he half forgets his purpose here. But when he looks up from the book he remembers, and cuts off. Smiles. Closes the book and sets it aside.]
Please tell me you are who I am expecting, for I would consider myself fortunte.
no subject
I'm Noctis. I hope you were expecting me.
[He didnt miss the part where he was told the other would consider himself fortunate. Hopefully that still held true here.]
no subject
[He rises to his feet and moves to pull out a chair for Noctis.]
Please, would you join me?
no subject
Uh ya..thanks.
[Noctis sat up straight much like he had when he met up with Iris in Lestallum. Normally in front of the guys he slouched, but not today and he hadn't that day in Lestallum either.]
You weren't waiting long, right?
no subject
Not so long that it was inconvenient. Only five minutes.
no subject
[Because that wasn't gentlemanly or kingly. Not that this guy had to know any of that right now.]
Have you had a chance to get something to drink or anything?
no subject
I can see that the wait was more than worth it.
[As for if he tried anything yet, he gestures toward the glass of red wine.]
Yes. I have. I started with only a house red. Not as impressive as one might want, but it serves.
no subject
He paused.
"Mind if I sit down?"

Idiot that he was back then, that sort of information would prove sorely useful right about now. And calling Ignis at any future point would prove he hadn't listened to those particular lessons, which he was so rightfully accused of.
Realizing that Genesis had spoken, Noct quickly shook his head. "No not at all. I'll join you in having a glass when they get around to us."
no subject
"Red then. Well aged and all the more beautiful for it."
Just like Noctis of ocurse.
no subject
"Glad to see you found something good to start off with."

For a moment, he didn't know what to say. He wasn't a smooth operator like Ignis could be, which was why he deferred to him at times to do the talking for him. That wasn't going to be the case here tonight though. So the king tried something else with a smile.
"Dessert, that sounds pretty ambitious but I like it."
no subject
"Would it bother you, to be near someone so aspirational in their desires?"
no subject
Wow.
The question had him smile and he shook his head. "Not at all. Aspirations are great things, and so far all I know of your ambition is dessert, but I'm good with that for a start."
He knew getting to know people took time and he was in no hurry.
no subject
"Oh no, desserts are treats. One must earn them by... behaving. So let us start this properly with a nice appetizer. What foods do you like and dislike, may I ask?"
no subject
Properly?
Looking at Genesis, he shook his head. "I'm not fussy, unless you're putting vegetables in front of me. Other than that, I love food. Fried cheese sticks would work or something along those lines, if that works for you. Or you can decide."
no subject
"Have you tried spring rolls?"
Perhaps that they can agree on. Deep friend, but some vegetables.
no subject
"You like those too I take it?"
no subject
"But in many ways it's the quality that matters over the specific items."
no subject
He loved food and was lucky enough to know someone who cooked.
"So beyond those, what else looks good?"
