Let's face it, sometimes it's difficult finding someone to share your time, and your heart (or maybe just your body), with. Luckily for you, you have well meaning friends. Unfortunately for you, you have well meaning friends who didn't tell you this was coming. That's right. They have taken it upon themselves (and no doubt friends of friends or family members or someone else who clearly doesn't know you) to arrange a date. Without telling you.
That's right. The dreaded blind date. Which means now you've got to get through at least a reasonable amount of time with a total stranger (or maybe not a stranger if you're particularly, well, we can't say if it's lucky or not) before you can reasonably escape. Maybe it will go well. Maybe this will be the start of the rest of your lives. Maybe you'll get laid. Maybe you'll have a horror story for the ages.
No matter what plays out, though, you're here. Might as well see just how your luck is going to play out.
How to Play1. Post your character and canon below along with any preferences. Then go back and edit your comment with the next number in order (i.e. first TL is 1, second is 2, etc) 2. Tag other TLs. If a character isn't in normal preferences, ask if they might want a date that goes poorly instead! 3. Optionally, get yourself a truly blind experience by going here and randomly generating a number. Then find the matching TL (numbered back in step one) and enjoy your blind date. 4. For more fun, use the list in the first comment for randomized date locations!

Why they were in a cat cafe, well, he couldn't even begin to guess. Safety in the form of felines maybe? Or maybe Kate hadn't researched the place before sending Teddy a date and time? Damn, he really didn't know.
What he did know was that while he waited an orange tabby had decided that his lap was the perfect place to lay down and purr, and there was no chance he was going to be able to move from this spot for a while.
(no subject)
He was not sure why a cat cafe, either, other than he liked animals, dog cafes didn't exist in the area, and it could give them something to talk about. If things didn't work out, at least he could pet something soft. Nick even researched the cafe before going to make sure they would have treats and toys on hand since he didn't have any for a cat to take with him. He was worried about the scent of Nellie on him, but hopefully the cats would be curious and not upset at smelling a dog.
What he wasn't sure about was what Teddy looked like. He asked for a description from Kate and got eye color and hair color, which helps, but the only other thing he got was "strong and soft" and "you'll know him when you see him."
Unsure what that even meant, Nick stands in the doorway and looks around, at first, until he sees a blond with an orange tabby and he smiles. That has to be Teddy.
"Made a friend already?" he asks as he approaches. He stops, puts out his hand, then realizes, "I really hope you're Teddy or this is already awkward."
apologies before hand because apparently brain wants to type 'Nida' today.
"Apparently I just have a sort of animal magnetism," he said with a smile. "And yeah. Teddy. You're Nick then."
0 worries
There's a nervous laugh at the magnetism comment, and Nick looks down at the cat for a moment, before flicking his eyes back up.
"I am. And glad to meet you," he says with such sincerity. "There are treats and toys over at the counter. Would you like me to get some for your friend?"
(no subject)
Or maybe even just order something to drink.
(no subject)
"Of course," and turns to head off, then stops, "or, I could order for you. What are you in the mood to try? The menu is on their website if you want to look at it."
(no subject)
Well, he gestures at the cat again. Not getting to get it without upsetting the poor cat. And he's too gentle for that.
(no subject)
"Does anything appeal?" A beat. "I'm going with matcha, myself."
(no subject)
"That tea, the one called the 'chocolate rocket'? I want to try that one."
(no subject)
"But got it. Chocolate rocket for you. Matcha for me. And treats for your friend. I'll be right back."
(no subject)
"I'll be waiting," he says with a smile. Because he's already charmed by the guy.
[OOC: chocolate rocket was one of my favorites in a sampler]
(no subject)
"I..." Nick licks his lips. "I won't keep you waiting too long."
He takes off.
When he comes back, he hands Teddy his drink, sets aside his own, then hands the little friend on Teddy's lap a treat he got from the counter.
"Here you go."
[ooc: that sounds incredibly good.]
(no subject)
"I feel like that cat has learned the way to game the system. Treat for freedom."
[OOC: IT was amazing and I miss it.]
(no subject)
"It worked," he points out.
"Hopefully you like your tea choice just as much." Nick settles down at the table and tries his own.
[ooc: sounds like it. you can't get more? ]
(no subject)
"I'm glad you showed up."
[Ooc: i don't think the company makes it anymore]
(no subject)
"I'm," he runs a nervous hand through his red hair, "I'm glad you showed up, as well." Nick tries his own tea, and seems pleased as a fluffy gray point cat nuzzles up against his leg.
His body jolts, then he looks down and smiles. "Another friend!"
[ooc: sad]
(no subject)
"Am I making you nervous?"
(no subject)
"No," Nick answers quickly, then gives a shaky laugh. "I mean, I am nervous. But not because of you."
His eyes flicker down, then up rather quickly. "You're just so nice. I'm not used to this blind date thing. I wasn't sure what to expect. So far, though, I like it."
(no subject)
Because this guy is also kind, clearly.
(no subject)
"I'm glad, too." He clears his throat and drinks more of his tea.
He swallows, then points out, "You clearly like animals. How do you feel about dogs?"
(no subject)
He looks fondly around at the different cats, like he can imagine it.
(no subject)
He laughs at Teddy's answer, though.
"Smaller animals are good for smaller spaces. Do you live in a flat?"
(no subject)
"Tell me about Nellie?"
(no subject)
They only leave him when Nick reaches down to pet one of the cats nuzzling up against his leg.
"She's a border collie. Very sweet. Sticks by me most of the time. She enjoys her walks, though."
