It's an annual thing of course. There's always some crisis that can justify this whole this. What makes this year special is that for the first time the formerly 'young' Avengers have been deemed old enough to put their names on the list. They're early bird choices, people to get up the blood and attention, which Tommy thinks is so silly.
Of course he should be later in the evening, but there's nothing he can do with that. Tommy knows he's going to go for something good. Bring in the money from some rich socialite who has all sorts of thoughts about just what you can get out of a speedster. Probably didn't help that his uncle had a reputation for how his dates go on these things.
But there he is anyway, smiling as he stands on the stage in this green-black tux that Stark had gotten him, his goggles on as he smiles and winks at the ladies that are throwing in bids.
"Oh come on," he says as another bid comes in, far too low for his dignity. "There are so many perks to a speedster for a night. Have a favorite restaurant you miss? I can get you there. Or pick up delivery."

Dressed in a black suit with red trim on the jacket, Jason snorts and smirks in amusement when Tommy pitches himself again to hike up the bids. Clearly, some more excitement needed to be injected into the crowd.
Jason calmly holds up his paddle and makes a bid that’s nearly twice as much as the last one.
The crowd turns and plenty murmur upon seeing Bruce Wayne’s second scion. Jason Todd, the son who’s much more mysterious than Bruce’s first son and who only recently returned, was making a rare public gesture.

This? This Tommy could work with.
"Really? People are going to let a ward of Brucie Wayne win? Like he even needs someone to be fast around him. I bet they have a private jet or something!"
Which of course means another bid. And Tommy sends a challenging smirks toward Jason.

"I could always use another assistant," he says out loud before raising his paddle and calling out another bid.
(no subject)
"Come on, folks. You hear that? The Wayne Ward wants me to clean his room instead of go on a candlelight walk or show up at some fancy restaurant. It's so cruel. Anyone going to, oh, there it is. Another bid. Thank you so much."
Not that he wants someone other than Jason to win. They could make a Team Assholes style video with Jason and Hood and Tommy, that would be fun.

He then makes another bid that's almost twice as much as the last one.
Though Jason's public persona is not like Brucie Wayne, it's pliable enough for him to pretend to be a little vapid at the right moments.

"Sounds like the guy's almost offering something good. Guess I should let it go. EVen if he's a gothamite."

"Gotham is just as good, if not better than New York," he says. He then calls out another bid, figuring they can pump up the number a little more before Jason fully takes advantage of his family's fortune.
(no subject)
And the other people seem to... at least understand. Or aren't bidding up on Jason anymore at least.
(no subject)
"Pleasure doing business with all of you," Jason happily says, trying to mimic a little bit of the "Brucie" tone he used to hear growing up.
(no subject)
"You bidding on the next target, or can I get you to cut the check now?"
(no subject)
"I can write it up now," he says. "Was only interested in you anyway."
(no subject)
He's actually looking forward to this shit.
(no subject)
“You got any ideas for the evening?” He asks.
(no subject)
Because they have plenty of nights on their own already.

The gossip columnists were always on the lookout for news about Gotham’s richest family.
(no subject)
Still, he leans in to whisper into Jason's ear.
"Seriously man, I can just give you a lift home. Thanks for keeping me from being embarrassed."
(no subject)
“We don’t have to stick around here but the night is still young,” he whispers back.
(no subject)
"You've got a plan then?"

When the pair reach the booth, Jason takes out his black Amex credit card to pay.
(no subject)
Though when the Amex comes out, he snorts in amusement. Yeah, that's what it's like man.
"What a Wayne."
(no subject)
Like raiding his safehouses or swiping the man’s own Amex card.
(no subject)
"Hope you got that legally," he whispers as he waits. Loves this so damn much. "Shall we get to the whole night out then? I don't want to stay behind to have some Avenger upstage me."
