Money to a Good Cause - For @robintohood

It's an annual thing of course. There's always some crisis that can justify this whole this. What makes this year special is that for the first time the formerly 'young' Avengers have been deemed old enough to put their names on the list. They're early bird choices, people to get up the blood and attention, which Tommy thinks is so silly.

Of course he should be later in the evening, but there's nothing he can do with that. Tommy knows he's going to go for something good. Bring in the money from some rich socialite who has all sorts of thoughts about just what you can get out of a speedster. Probably didn't help that his uncle had a reputation for how his dates go on these things.

But there he is anyway, smiling as he stands on the stage in this green-black tux that Stark had gotten him, his goggles on as he smiles and winks at the ladies that are throwing in bids.

"Oh come on," he says as another bid comes in, far too low for his dignity. "There are so many perks to a speedster for a night. Have a favorite restaurant you miss? I can get you there. Or pick up delivery."

Tommy offers a bow on stage and then in a blink the suited hero is by Jason.

"You bidding on the next target, or can I get you to cut the check now?"

Jason grins back at Tommy.

"I can write it up now," he says. "Was only interested in you anyway."

"Oh man, rich boy got the moves," Tommy laughs, offering his arm. "Come on, Jace."

He's actually looking forward to this shit.

Jason gladly takes Tommy’s arm and starts walking to where he should pay.

“You got any ideas for the evening?” He asks.

[doubled_speed]

"Not really. I mean it's really good that you would donate like this, but you know you don't have to stick around for this."

Because they have plenty of nights on their own already.

“I know,” Jason replies. “I already did my part and the gossip rags are gonna get their obligatory bit about a Wayne again.”

The gossip columnists were always on the lookout for news about Gotham’s richest family.

"Won't that make them so happy," Tommy laughs. "At least it's for charity?"

Still, he leans in to whisper into Jason's ear.

"Seriously man, I can just give you a lift home. Thanks for keeping me from being embarrassed."

Jason continues to smile at Tommy and lightly nudges him.

“We don’t have to stick around here but the night is still young,” he whispers back.

They don't, and it is. Which is amusing as all hell to mention.

"You've got a plan then?"

[robintohood]

"Not really. Just wanna have fun while we're in your turf," Jason replies. "What's a way you entertain yourself here?"

[doubled_speed]

"Honestly? I just enjoy the city," he says with a shrug as he guides Jason to the booth.

[robintohood]

“Same. Can’t really imagine myself living anywhere but in a city,” Jason says. “It feels weird if things are too quiet around me.”

When the pair reach the booth, Jason takes out his black Amex credit card to pay.

"I know what you mean," Tommy laughs.

Though when the Amex comes out, he snorts in amusement. Yeah, that's what it's like man.

"What a Wayne."

“Gotta keep up appearances and all,” Jason smirks while his card is processed. “This doesn’t mean I won’t stop messing with the old man though.”

Like raiding his safehouses or swiping the man’s own Amex card.

That's fair.

"Hope you got that legally," he whispers as he waits. Loves this so damn much. "Shall we get to the whole night out then? I don't want to stay behind to have some Avenger upstage me."

“That’s the plan,” Jason cheerfully says. He puts away his card and starts for the exit. “Seems like you did good for a first-timer.”

Tommy laughs.

"I'm not someone people are as aware of. It's what happens, you know?"

“Yeah, I think I get it,” Jason says. “Couldn’t let a Team Asshole member be humiliated like that.”

[doubled_speed]

"You're a fan then?" Tommy asks, eyes sparkling behind his goggles.

[robintohood]

“I think I’ve watched a video or two,” Jason jokingly teases.

[doubled_speed]

"Wow, the Wayne is just a little trouble seeker," he laughs as he offers his arm.

[robintohood]

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jason says while taking Tommy’s arm. “I’m still offended by the gossip rags speculating that I’m the ‘bad boy’ of the family.”

[doubled_speed]

"You just bought a night with the bad boy of the Young Avengers. You're not helping your case man. I have this Tiktok channel called Team Assholes. Seriously, maybe to buy someone charming instead."

[robintohood]

“Charming gets boring. A bad boy keeps things exciting,” Jason happily counters.

[doubled_speed]

Tommy laughs, loud. "Come on man, I'm a super hero. I'm not about bad boys."

What a lie.
